The New Service that we are offering is “One-Price-ADSL” Bundle
Up to now you could only get the ADSL line directly from Telkom.  Please do not get confused with Telephone line rental and ADSL line rental. Telephone line rental is the amount (approx R131) that you pay Telkom for having a normal (i.e. not prepaid), telephone in your house. You pay this amount irrespective of whether you have ADSL or not. ADSL line rental is the amount Telkom charge for provisioning the ADSL service on the existing piece of copper that your telephone uses. Even though the service works on the same piece of copper that your telephone does, for all intents and purposes it acts a separate line and it has its own cost. So in summary, when we talk about an "ADSL line" what we mean is the ADSL service that works on the same piece of copper as your telephone and "ADSL line rental" is the cost of having this service.
Since April 2007, ISPs have been able to sell the ADSL line as well as the ISP portion. Instead of Telkom charging you an ADSL line rental directly (i.e. on your Telkom invoice), they charge us a reduced rate and we pass this saving on to you the customer. The one-price-ADSL services include BOTH the ADSL line (at a discounted price) AND the ISP as one bundled product, hence the name "one-price-ADSL".
